What is the metal that turns your skin green?

I want to go out and get myself some jewlery and not spend a whole bunch of money on it, but I dont want to get something so cheap that it will turn my skin green!! I dont remember what it is that does that though! This is copper reacting to the atmosphere ,and this colouring will form a green tint on skin . A cheap way to wear copper ,and to prevent this happening ,is to spray the item with a lacquer. This will insulate the copper in the item from direct contact with your skin .
