How Much Will Wearing Sunscreen Lighten Your Skin?

If you wear it for 3 months(the whole summer.) I usually spend about 1 hour outside a day with no sun screen. How much will I lighten if I go to spending 2 hours outside with spf 70 (or higher) sun block.

P.S. I am african american with skin a shade or two darker than jennifer hudson. I used to be lighter, but i%26#039;ve got darker and darker over the years. So will it lighten me, and how much?|||It won%26#039;t lighten you, it will help protect your skin so the pigment doesn%26#039;t darken. If you protect your skin, it should eventually get back to your natural color. I%26#039;ve had tans last as long as 9 months, but it was very subtle..and i%26#039;m also white. If you want to be lighter, just consistently protect your skin every day before sun exposure.

spf 45 or better is ideal. also opt for shine free/no oil added, especially for your face.|||To my knowledge, there are no %26quot;lightening%26quot; chemicals other than simply avoiding staying outdoors for any periods of time.

SUNSCREENS / SUNBLOCKS are developed only to %26quot;protect%26quot; your skin from the UV-A or UV-B rays from the sunlight or %26quot;block%26quot; them when outdoors, not to lighten the skin.|||It depends on how high the SPF is. The higher it is, the more sun protection you have. Sunscreen doesn%26#039;t lighten your skin. It prevents it from getting burned or really tanned. If you have a lower SPF, you are more likely to get tanned easier. If you%26#039;re aiming for lighter skin, wear a higher SPF, and your skin tan will eventually fade and keep from tanning. Good luck!|||well its made to protect you from harmful UV rays so it doesnt lighten ur skin it basically prevents it from getting darker and it prevents skin cancer. u may not realize it but during the winter you get lighter from the lack of sun. Just try to avoid the sun as much as possible but y u wanna be lighter anyway?

Black is Beautiful : )|||if you begin wearing sunscreen, you may see some lightening. you many not see any at all. some degree of darkening occurs as we get older. i take care of elderly people who have not seen the sun in years and they still have tan lines. darker skinned women tend to retain color more than light skinned women.|||you wont get any lighter...sunscreen will prevent you from getting darker tho.

exfoliating will make you lighter tho because you are sloughing off dead skin cells that have already been tanned..........this in conjunction with using sunscreen and maybe wearing a large brim hat or staying in the shade will def prevent you from getting darker...if thats wat you are trying to do|||Wearing sunscreen will not lighten your skin AT ALL. It will only protect it from getting darker than it already is and if you spend too much time in the sun, even WITH sunscreen, you will still get darker to some extent.|||Why do you want to be lighter I dont understand it. There are so many people that I come across that want to be lighter. Personally I think you sound un happy with yourself . Be happy with yourself and dont try to change it........ hope this helpz|||Sunscreen doesn%26#039;t lighten you honey. It protects your skin from further sun damage. You should not be worried about anything other than that...|||it will not lighten you, only prevent you from becoming darker.|||it doesnt lighten your skin at all... and to the person above me many black people love the color of there skin...i know i do|||it will not lighten your skin color. sunscreen protects you from harmful uvb/uva rays that can cause skin cancer|||Sun screen will not lighten you,,,, no offense, but if it did lots of black people would use it.|||i dont think that sunscreen will lighter ur skin all that it does is protect ur skin from da sun|||sunscreen won%26#039;t lighten your skin, it will just block the sun so it doesn%26#039;t get darker|||dont ware it and find out
