Our neighborhood cat stays outside and we%26#039;re not sure who it belongs too but it gets fed and watered.
When I%26#039;m petting him I noticed that sometimes he%26#039;ll lay down and start licking his fur in spots where the fur seems less thick but he will also start biting and and pulling at his skin with his teeth.
When I look and feel, I don%26#039;t feel or see any bumps.
What does this mean?
Does he have some sort of sickness or flea?
thanks everyone
-mandi|||he might have fleas...but he could also have allergies. Cats and dogs can get these too, and it makes them itch to the point where they start to lose fur in the skin becomes irritated. Putting a very very small dose a benedryl in the cats food can help.|||well, here are some possibility%26#039;s he could just have stuff stuck in his fur,he could have fleas but he would be biting in certain places all the time, or he could be getting a bald spot cats can get them.Though probably it%26#039;s a mixture the first and the last possibility.|||The licking is usaully when the cat cleans himself. But biting is itching, so i think he has ticks or fleas or a skin sickness. But to be safe i would take him to the vet. If you don%26#039;t want, u can look at the spots and if there are black spots those are ticks, i haven%26#039;t realy seen fleas before.|||dont worry about anything! My cat does that all the time! He is just getting things out of his fur like bristles and leaves. If he starts to might really bad and get wounds i would go to the vet.|||he is fine he is just cleaning himself sometimes he gets knots in his fur and maybe dirt cause he is an outside cat.|||He%26#039;s probably just cleaning himself. Most cats tend to spend a lot of time cleaning.|||Cats lick there paws, bite there fur lick fur to clean themeselves.
