My 4 year old daughter has really dry skin. What can I put on to help it?

I have tried some lotions like the vitamin E lotions, extra moisturizing lotion. But her skin is still really dry. I was wondering what i could put on her to help with it. Or should i take her to the doctor.

Lotions tell me what brand . Home remedies are ok as well.|||you should lubricate the skin, use oatmeal to heal it, select superfatted soaps, let a humidifier help, and keep it cool.|||my 3 1/2 daughter has dry skin as well.. when she was 1st born, she had the worst eczema i have ever seen..

we bought baby aveeno, and that cleaned it up wonderfully.. try not to use lotions w/ scent in them, because that will only irritate her skin much worse-

good luck|||You could try the doctors, They would most likely give you a medicated cream. But if you%26#039;d rather try some creams at home first, Burt%26#039;s Bee%26#039;s is very good. It%26#039;s hypoallergenic and very good with sensitive skin.

Also concentrated Coco Butters work as well.

Jergins is good, but maybe not if her skin is severely dry.

Typically, A dense coco butter cream works well with my daughter.|||Coconut oil is good to put on her skin. You might want to decrease the amount of baths she has also, to like 3 times a week. The soap and water could be making her dry skin worse.

If her dry skin lasts for over a week you might want to take her to the doctor to get a prescription lotion.|||coco butter yes, i agree. - after baths you can use a little bit of baby oil too. we use lubriderm, it%26#039;s %26quot;okay%26quot;.|||take her to the doctor then he/she will give you a lotion:)|||The best thing to do is to drink more water.

If that does not help then tell her to eat bread, cereal, crackers because they have grain which is the #1 best food for skin.

Top foods for better skin are

#5-Seafood

#4-Citrus fruit

#3- Red and green vegetables

#2-Nuts and

#1- Whole Grains|||Umm johnson baby lotion or almond juice D:|||try giving her a bath and an lotian avenno|||Lotions without perfumes or dyes are best for kids to prevent allergies and reactions.

try Johnson %26amp; Johnson...they have baby lotion and kids lotions that are good. you can also try oatmeal lotions. just look to see if any have dyes or perfumes, thats the main thing.

stay away from alcohol-based products, they are very drying.|||Take her to the doctor and they will prescribe a oily moisturiser for her. I did the same with my daughter and it worked wonders.|||Vitamin E cream. The vitimin e in helps nourish the skin and repair skin damage too.|||Gold Bond makes a great lotion (adult and baby versions), if that doesn%26#039;t work check out Burt%26#039;s Bees products (they are really good and natural)|||You might want to get a doc%26#039;s recommendation or try one of the vaseline creams, they stay on better than lotions.|||Just today i asked my doctor about my daughters dry skin. She said to use unsented Dove soap, and use aquaphor or eucatrin(sp) lotion. also she said to use a cool mist humidifier to put some moisture into the air which will help the skin from drying out.|||I WOULD CERTAINLY ADVICE MEDICAL DEVICEBioptron light therapy.Where are you from.

have a look at Bioptron.com|||i recently bought vaseline intensive rescue clinical therapy for extremely sdry skin (the bottle comes in a box). it works great and is non greasy. also curel for extremely dry skin works well too.|||try eucerin cream or cetaphil cream, my daughter has excema, it works good and if it%26#039;s worse apply very little hydro cortizone 1.0%.

give her flaxseed oil by mouth it makes her skin oily|||take her to the doctor she probaly has exama

or how ever its spelled|||Both of my children get eczema so we%26#039;ve had a lot of experience with creams. For young children, it%26#039;s better to go with fragrance-free and dye-free products, especially if they are prone to allergic reactions or if they have eczema.

My son does best with Mustela%26#039;s Stelatopia cream (you can buy at Babies R Us), which would probably be best for all over moisture compared to my other examples, as it%26#039;s more of a lotion than a cream and goes on a little easier. My daughter does better on Eucerin%26#039;s original cream, very thick stuff, so harder to spread but great on dried cheeks. And when we go out in the cold or if they start breaking out in eczema patches, I layer on some of Eucerin%26#039;s Aquaphor ointment over the lotion as it gives it an extra barrier against wind and getting chapped. Both Eucerin products can be purchased at any drug store, grocery store etc.

Other things you can do is run a humidifier, keep bathwater warm but not hot and don%26#039;t let her soak for too long, increase her water/liquid intake and just keep reapplying the lotion a couple times a day until the symptoms start to subside.

If you think it could be eczema -- typically dry, raised and sometimes red patches -- it might be worth a trip to the doctor so they can identify it. If it%26#039;s not a bad case, they probably won%26#039;t prescribe anything other than over the counter lotions as steroids thin the skin and can cause other problems, but if the benefits outweigh the risks they will.|||MY SON HAD THE SAME VERY DRY SKIN SO I WENT TO THE STORE TO BUY AVEENO LOTION AND BODY WASH FOR BABIES IT WORKS GREAT|||i had dry skin im only young my mum got me E45 its great|||my little sis skin is verry dry too. i would try lubrederm. choose the one that fits you kids needs|||aquaphor my mom uses it on my brother all the time and he has the smoothest skin.|||I think u should take her 2 the doctor, i had eczema last year and i went 2 the doctor it worked magic in like a week or so, my eczema never cam back since.

Regular lotion wont work i tried.

Good luck sweetie.|||bat and body works lotitons|||Use either jergens or if you know where a local meijer%26#039;s store is or wal-mart check for their store brand lotions or creams. If you%26#039;re real worried try a specail cream gave to you by doctors. I%26#039;ve had many skin problem%26#039;s before.|||Some aveeno products are very good.|||Vaseline works very well. I have eczema and my mom would cover my body with vaseline after a bath and then wrap me up in tight clothes, and it would stop the itching and dryness almost immediately.

Goodluck|||coco butter
